Mr. Cody Yoshio Andrade

Cody Yoshio Andrade was born on May 8, 1955 and passed away on May 1, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones. Cody leaves behind the love of his life, Josie, his children Joshua and Monse, his grandchildren, Austin, Dahlia, and Amelia, his great grandchild, Greyson, his four-legged babies he so lovingly referred to, family, and countless friends. Born in Hawaii to David Herman and Lorraine Yukie Andrade, he was the second oldest of three brothers. The family moved to Sonoma County, California in 1971, making Sebastopol their home. In 1973 after graduating from Analy High School in Sebastopol, Cody enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve. He did Basic and Security Police training at Lackland AFB in Texas. He was stationed at Hamilton AFB and in 1975 Cody re-enlisted into active duty with the United States Air Force. After further training, he became an Air Passenger Specialist and transferred to McGuire AFB in New Jersey and additionally became a member of the Honor Guard. Throughout his years of service, he was continuously praised and recognized for his achievements. The following are a few of many he received: “It is with a great deal of pleasure that I forward these laudatory comments on your performance as a member of the McGuire AFB Honor Guard. I am personally aware of the long hours and hard work you expend in attaining the highest degree of professionalism, and that Is what the Honor Guard is about. Anything less than outstanding is not tolerable. Thus this letter is only a token of the superb job you do every day. You have a lot to be proud of, and I am proud of you also.” – Capt. USAF, Honor Guard Commander “I would like to express my most sincere appreciation for your outstanding performance as an Honor Guard member. The professionalism and dedication you exhibited in all ceremonies assigned are highly commend-able. Your mature judgment and highly developed sense of tact and diplomacy make you a real asset to the Base Honor Guard. Both your efforts and the results achieved are very much appreciated. Thank you very much.” – Colonel, USAF Commander “Cody Y Andrade was assigned to the 438 Aerial Port Squadron McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey from 20 Dec 1975 to 14 Aug 1979. His position as an Air Passenger Service Representative required him to demonstrate excellent use of many skills. His in-depth knowledge of the Passenger Service System enabled him to perform effectively as a supervisor. During his contract with the Air Force, Cody Andrade obtained the grade of Sergeant. He performed in this capacity in an absolutely outstanding manner. He was indeed a professional Sergeant in every sense of the word. He has continually devoted his time and efforts toward self-improvement and job efficiency. Cody Andrade is a meticulous and intelligent individual and is very perceptive of all tasks associated with the handling of passengers. He possesses excellent supervisory and leadership qualities and possesses the uncanny capacity to grasp new procedures and put them to use. He has often proven to be one of our finest workers when dealing with the public. He takes pride in helping others. He can express himself or establish rapport with customers even under the most difficult circum-stances. There are not enough superlatives which would accurately describe Cody Andrade. In my opinion he is one of the most polite and courteous individuals assigned to this organization. His appearance and neatness has continuously set an example for other military members to follow. The image he reflects and the manner in which he conducts his public relations duties for Passenger Service makes him a highly qualified Passenger Service Representative. The Air Force was fortunate to have acquired an individual of Cody Andrade's caliber and would have surely profited if he had elected to Remain with the Air Force.” –USAF Passenger Service Superintendent In November 1979, Cody Y. Andrade, SGT USAF was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force. He used the skills gained during his service and pursued the passion that he had as a young child which was a career in Law Enforcement. In 1981, after endless hours of training and education, he began working for the Department of Defense Housing Facility at Hamilton Airfield in Novato, where he continued to be praised and recognized for his achievements: “Due to the recent opening of the sergeants position, I have reviewed the officers present for the appropriate candidate. I have found that person in you. This decision is based on your shown ability in the area of responsibility, education, and performance. I am now proud to announce that you meet the qualifications and that as of 1985, you will hold the rank of sergeant.” – Capt. DODHF Police “Too many times you hear of the bad things that happen concerning Security Police Detachments and very seldom do you hear the good. This is the instance of humanity, professionalism and conduct above and beyond the call of duty…The feeling of security and safety that was given to myself and my daughter by the Security Police Department…all these people deserve a special “atta boy” for their professionalism and their caring humanity.” – Civilian In 1988, Cody began working for Korbel Champagne Cellars. Little did he know then that his tenure would last thirty-four years. He began his career as a security officer, but eventually his tremendous work ethic, professionalism and dedication earned him a promotion to Chief Security Officer where he oversaw the security department. Korbel opened many doors for him but most importantly, it is where he met Josie, his best friend who in time would become his wife. They married on the big island of Hawaii, a place he held dear to his heart. Cody and Josie’s love for each other never wavered; it only grew stronger with each passing year. It was a privilege to witness their interactions, to watch the two of them and feel their mutual love and respect. In 2017, Cody, founded the Cody Y. Andrade Firearms Instruction LLC; where he provided instruction in Basic Firearms, Law Enforcement Handgun/Shotgun, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services Firearms, CCW Permit Handgun Instruction and Certification. He was a frequent helper with various programs, such as Women on Target, and helped countless gun owners learn to carry their firearms properly and safely by passing on his knowledge to those fortunate enough to have trained with him. While we are thankful for the beautiful memories we made with Cody over the years, he will be greatly missed, as his loss leaves a deep void in our hearts. However, we believe he will continue to guide us, protect us, and love us from afar until our time comes to see him again. Service details— Cody’s family will host a service at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints at 8100 Valentine Ave, Sebastopol, CA 95472 on Thursday, May 11th. There will be a public viewing at 3:30pm with a service following at 5:00pm. Light refreshments will follow. As a veteran of the United States Air Force, Cody will be laid to eternal rest at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. In his honor, full military honors will be rendered at 5810 Midway Rd, Dixon CA 95620 on May 18th at 11:00am. All are welcome to attend and if you wish to join us in procession from Windsor Healdsburg Mortuary and Crematory, please arrive no later than 8:45am.
