Manuel H. Esparza

It is with deep love and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Manuel H. Esparza, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Manuel entered eternal rest on July 6, 2025, in Novato, California, at the age of 97. Manuel was born on February 29, 1928, in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico, where he spent his early years and began his life's journey. In Mexico, he worked in the mining industry, rising through dedication and hard work to become a senior mechanic. In the early 1960s, Manuel made a courageous decision that would define his legacy: he immigrated to the United States alone, determined to build a brighter future for his family. Within a few years, he successfully brought his loved ones to Cloverdale, California, where he continued his hard-working ways. For 20 years, Manuel worked the swing shift in the lumber industry, while also laboring in the agricultural fields in the mornings. His work ethic, humility, and strength of character were unmatched. Manuel became a proud U.S. citizen, a moment he cherished deeply as it affirmed his place in the country and community he helped build. Though his roots remained in Mexico, his heart and legacy took firm hold in California. He loved watching and attending baseball games, and in his later years, his greatest joy came from spending time with his growing family. Manuel was deeply devoted to his loved ones and relished every moment shared around the table, in the garden, or simply sitting together in quiet conversation. He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Francisca Landeros Cortez, his second wife Maria Nieto, and his son Francisco Esparza. He is survived by his loving children: Laura Capellan, Jesus Esparza, Hector Esparza, Jose Esparza, and Margaret Graham. His legacy lives on through numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family who will forever cherish his wisdom, stories, and steadfast love. A Mass in celebration of Manuel’s life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Windsor, California. Interment will follow at 1:00 PM at Oak Mound Cemetery in Healdsburg, California. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Manuel’s memory to: Paws for Love Foundation (Santa Rosa) and By The Bay Health (Marin County). Manuel's life was a testament to resilience, sacrifice, and love—a true patriarch whose spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
