Suzanne Harwood Rubattino

Suzanne Harwood Rubattino, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, in Sonoma County at the age of 83, surrounded by family and friends. Born on September 1, 1941, in Mendocino County, Sue grew up in the close-knit town of Laytonville, CA, where she cultivated a lifelong love for family, friends, and community. Sue pursued higher education at the University of the Pacific before earning her Bachelor’s degree from Humboldt State University. She later received her teaching credential from Sonoma State University and embarked on a rewarding career as an elementary school teacher at Monroe Elementary. She met the love of her life, Tom Rubattino and was married for 37 years. Alongside her husband, they became the proud co-owners of the Oakmont Village Market, where they worked side by side for 24 years. A longtime resident of Santa Rosa, CA, Sue was a vibrant and social soul who found joy in the company of others. She was an active member of the Corvette Club of Santa Rosa and cherished her many adventures traveling with family and friends. She had a love for mahjong, enjoyed her weekly water aerobics classes, and delighted in outings with friends—whether for day trips, movies, or spirited card games. Sue had a special gift for making those around her feel welcome and loved, and her warmth and kindness touched countless lives. Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas “Tom” Rubattino, her brothers Arthur H. “Bud” Harwood and Morris Jackson “Jack” Harwood, and her parents, Arthur and Belva Harwood. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Sue is survived by her daughters Gina Rubattino, Marilyn Rubattino, and Jennifer Rubattino Grubaugh, (Brad) as well as her adored grandchildren, Stella and Ryder, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate Sue’s life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Spring Hills Church, 3700 Fulton Rd., Fulton, CA 95439. A reception will follow on site. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Sue’s honor. Sue’s bright spirit, vibrant smile, and zest for life will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
