Margery "Mardi" Hinton Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Margery Dee Hinton, best known by friends and family alike as “Mardi”, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on July 30, 2022 at the age of 78. Mardi was born to Gwendolyn Watkins Wilson and Burton Rae Wilson in Phoenix, Az., and raised in Mendocino County. A past Sweetheart of Willits Frontier Days 1961 she attended Willits Union High School, where she met her future husband Michael “Mike” Hinton, and graduated Valedictorian in 1962. After marrying and having children the family moved to Santa Rosa in 1968. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister j phoenix ewing. Survived by her husband of 59 years, Mike Hinton; her sister Vicki England; her three children and their spouses; Keith Hinton and his wife Denise Hinton, Natalie Young and her husband Rick Young, and Veronica Hinton-Harold and her husband Nick Harold; her grandchildren, Stephanie Thompson and her husband Dan Thompson, Rachel Young and her partner Austin Gregory, Shane Young and his partner Kerianne Corns and Addison Harold. She was especially fond of large gatherings of friends and family at her home. She loved traveling and visiting with her extended social network around the country. She also enjoyed golfing, playing along with game shows, and reading. She was famous for her fudge making which was, for many, a special part of the holidays. Mardi was actively involved in the Piner-Olivet Union School District as a parent, school board member, and employee for 50 years. During a hiatus from the school board, she worked as part of the team that created and opened the Piner-Olivet Charter School. She finished her career as the President of the Board for the Piner-Olivet School District and the Business Manager for the La Vida Charter School in Willits California.
