Evelyn Claxton

Evelyn Elizabeth Claxton, lovingly known as "Lynn," passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, in Fairfield, California, at the age of 83. Born on September 12, 1941, in Northfield, New Jersey, Lynn grew up in the Fox Chase neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She attended Lincoln High School in Northeast Philly and later pursued her passion for fashion and poise at the Philadelphia Modeling School. Lynn led a vibrant and accomplished life. Her career path was as dynamic as her personality, with highlights that included modeling, serving at Jo-Jo’s Restaurant, working retail at Strawbridge’s, and managing dining rooms at Officers' NCO Clubs on military bases. She also served as a hospitality supervisor at Oakwood Country Club in Enid, Oklahoma, and held various roles in other country clubs and restaurants. Later in life, she brought her skills and leadership to the role of office manager at RV parks, while traveling with her husband Jim across country on their fun adventures. Lynn loved many things in life in her younger years — roller skating, horseback riding, rock 'n' roll music with her brother Tom, and expressing herself through fashion. She had a natural talent for cooking and took pride in being a devoted mother. She also enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, caring for her beloved cats, and the occasional thrill of gambling or bingo night. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Jim Claxton; her parents, Anthony and Muriel Ginnetti; and her children Brian Chester and Jerry Claxton. Lynn is survived by her loving children: Donna Fraley, Holly Chester, Daniel Chester, Matthew Claxton, Michael Claxton, Todd Claxton, and Kevin Claxton; her dear brothers, Tom Ginnetti and Jeff Ginnetti; and a large and cherished family of 20 grandchildren, along with 28 great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy and pride. A graveside service to honor and celebrate Lynn’s life will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Shiloh District Cemetery, 7130 Windsor Rd, Windsor, CA 95492.
