Gloria June Silva

SILVA, Gloria June - known to many as June, She was born on August 22, 1931, in Whittier, CA, and passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on September 8, 2024, at Sutter Hospital in Santa Rosa, CA. June grew up in Grenada, CA, graduated from Yreka High School, and went on to complete beauty college at the Sacramento City College. She worked as a beauty operator for 25 years, where she found great joy in her craft, before transitioning to work at the Sacramento City College in the Admissions and Records department. A devoted member of Light of the Valley Church in Elk Grove for many years, June was deeply connected to her church community and cherished the relationships she built there. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and she found comfort and purpose through her church. June was known for her many talents and hobbies. She enjoyed making scratchers, cooking, baking, and especially loved gambling, with nickel poker being her favorite game. She was always up for a good card game and loved to entertain, frequently hosting parties that brought friends and family together. Above all, June was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her love for her family and friends was evident in every aspect of her life. June is preceded in death by her husband, Red Silva; her daughter, Nancy Pruitt; her sister, Ferol Bohneman; her brother, Jack Nosler; her sister-in-law, Beverly Nosler; and her niece, Linda Picadera. She is survived by her loving daughter, Candy, and son, Craig; her cherished grandchildren, Chad, Cari, Dan, Jamie and Teresa; and her great-grandchildren, Lexi and Ryder. She also leaves behind her brother Roy, and her nieces and nephews, Tammy, Tyler, Don, Mark, and Jeff, as well as many cousins and dear friends, all of whom will miss her dearly. A memorial service to celebrate June's life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Light of the Valley Church, located at 9270 Bruceville Rd, Elk Grove, CA 95758. Following the service, the family invites all to join them for a luncheon at the church to share memories and celebrate the wonderful life June lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Light of the Valley Church, which June loved so much.
