MaryAnn L. Parrish

MaryAnn “Pooh” Parrish, a life-long resident of Sonoma County, California, passed away unexpectedly on June 3, 2026, at the age of 47 in Santa Rosa, Ca MaryAnn was born in Healdsburg, California, on June 17, 1978, to Warren and Shirley Parrish. She graduated from Point Arena High School in 1996. She dedicated over two decades of her life to being the primary caregiver of her parents before their passing. She worked at the Kashia Reservation School, Fort Ross State Park, Home Depot and the Windsor Unified School District (WUSD). Most recently she was employed as a teacher’s aid for second graders at WUSD. Her smile was infectious and her angelic spirit shined through. She always loved being with the children in which she called her “little people”. She was beloved by all the staff and students, and her presence and kindness will be deeply missed. MaryAnn was a member of the Hoopa Valley Tribe by way of her mother. Her father was a member of the Kashia Band of Pomo Indians. Her paternal grandmother, Essie Parrish, was a spiritual leader (yomta) and influential County of Sonoma cultural preservationist and leader. MaryAnn was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. She wore her title as “Auntie” proudly, as her nieces and nephews brought her immense joy. She was known for being wise beyond her years, which brought many family and friends to seek her candid advice. Her family and friends always looked forward to spending time with her, because it was always full of stories and laughter. She enjoyed reading, quilting, and everything true crime, as well as being a huge Atlanta Braves fan. She allowed others to have a glimpse into her thoughts through her practice of vlogging. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, George Washington and MaryAnn McCovey; paternal grandparents, Sidney and Essie Parrish; parents, Warren Clark Parrish, Sr., and Shirley Lavaine McCovey-Parrish; and brothers, Moses Clifton Hurley and Russell Wade Hurley. MaryAnn is survived by her brother, Warren Clark Parrish, Jr., along with his wife, Robyn Theresa Parrish, and daughters, Haley Elyse, Reese Theresa, and Mia Jenny; nieces, Marilyn Mendez, Shirley Yanez, Ka-shi Hurley, Anne Hurley, Seneca Marshall; nephews, Russell Hurley and Andrew Hurley; several aunts and uncles; and hundreds of cousins. Family and friends are welcomed to attend services on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. There will be a Graveside Ceremony starting at 12pm at the Sebastopol Memorial Lawn Cemetery 7951 Bodega Avenue in Sebastopol, CA; and a celebration of life to follow at the Newsong Church 167 Arata Lane in Windsor, Ca between 2-4pm and is open to all.
